  • LOW POROSITY

Low porosity hair struggles to absorb moisture because the cuticles are tightly packed, making hydration tricky and prone to product buildup. But with the right routine, you can keep your hair healthy, soft, and thriving!Β

  • HIGH POROSITY

High porosity hair has gaps and holes in the cuticle, which allows moisture in easily but also causes it to escape just as fast, leading to dryness, frizz, and breakage. Here’s how to care for it properly:

  • 1. Use Lightweight Oils & Products

Best Oils: Argan oil, grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil (all in our blendβ€”perfect for low porosity hair!)
🚫 Avoid heavy butter and thick oils like castor oil unless diluted.

  • 1. Use Rich, Sealing Oils & Butters

Best Oils: Extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil, hemp oil, and argan oil (all of which are in our blend!)

βœ” These oils seal in moisture and help fill the gaps in the cuticle.

  • 2. Apply Heat When Deep Conditioning

πŸ’‘ Why? The heat helps open the hair cuticle, allowing moisture to penetrate.
    🌑️ How?

    • Use a steam treatment or a warm towel over a plastic cap.

Sit under a hooded dryer or use a heated conditioning cap for deeper hydration.

  • 2. Deep Condition Regularly

    πŸ™ŒπŸΎ Thick, creamy deep conditioners

  • 3. Clarify Regularly

πŸ› Since low porosity hair is prone to buildup, use a gentle clarifying shampoo or apple cider vinegar rinse every few weeks

  • 3. Use Protein Treatments (In Moderation)

πŸ’ͺ High porosity hair needs protein to strengthen gaps in the cuticle but not too much, or it can become brittle.

βœ” Look for products with keratin, hydrolyzed wheat protein, or silk protein once a month.

  • 4. Choose Water-Based Leave-Ins

πŸ’¦ Look for lightweight, water-based products with humectants like glycerin or aloe vera.

  • 4. Avoid Harsh Shampoos & Overwashing

🚿 Stick to gentle, sulphate-free shampoos or co-wash to avoid stripping moisture.
βœ” Rinse with cool water to help seal the cuticles.

  • 5. Avoid Protein Overload

βš–οΈ Since low-porosity hair already has strong cuticles, too much protein can make it stiff and dry. Stick to moisture-rich products instead.

  • 5. Layer Products for Maximum Hydration

πŸ’¦ Use the LOC (Liquid, Oil, Cream) method:
    1. Liquid: Start with a water-based leave-in.
    2. Oil: Use your EverEss Hair Oil to lock in hydration.
    3. Cream: Finish with a thick butter or cream for extra moisture retention.

  • 6. Keep Hair Damp When Moisturizing

πŸ’¦Apply products to damp hair, not soaking wet or dry, to help absorption.

  • 6. Reduce Heat

πŸ”₯ High porosity hair is prone to damage, so limit heat styling and always use a heat protectant.

  • 7. Trim Regularly & Protect Hair at Night

βœ‚ Trim split ends to prevent breakage.
πŸ§–πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ Sleep with a satin/silk scarf or pillowcase to retain moisture and reduce friction.
